It accounts for purchase price (net of incentives for EVs), loan financing with standard amortization, fuel/electricity costs with annual price escalation, maintenance, insurance, and depreciation. Break-even year is when the EV's cumulative cost drops below the gas car's. CO₂ estimates use EPA averages: 0.855 lbs/kWh for electricity and 19.6 lbs/gallon for gasoline.
